Why teams switch

Fingerprint scanners cost real money. A smile is free.

Many workplaces bought biometric hardware to stop buddy-punching. Smiley Pay does the same job with a camera on compatible hardware — yours or ours — and your people stop touching a shared sensor.

How it works

Enroll once. Smile to check in.

The smile is the point: it's a deliberate gesture, so nobody is verified just by walking past a camera.

STEP 1 · ~10 SECONDS

Enroll once

A person enrolls with a few quick photos at the terminal or from an enrollment link. That's it — about ten seconds, once.

STEP 2 · THE GESTURE

Smile to authenticate

At the door, kiosk, or front desk, the person looks at the terminal and deliberately smiles. The smile is the consent gesture — no smile, no check-in.

STEP 3 · ~2 SECONDS

Verified

Verification completes in about two seconds. If a match is uncertain, pilot workflows can include fallback review by staff.

STEP 4 · YOUR VIEW

Admin sees it

Every check-in or authentication event lands in a simple admin view — who, where, and when — for attendance, guest lists, and memberships.

Pilots

Built for real-world teams.

We're piloting with teams like mechanic shops, venues, gyms, and local operators — places where attendance is money and queues are friction.

Workforce

Shift check-in without the fingerprint scanner

Replace the ~$1,000 fingerprint terminal with a smile at a compatible device. Fewer missed punches, less buddy-punching, and a check-in your team doesn't dread. Admins see every clock-in in one simple view.

Guest lists that flow

Guests enroll when they RSVP, then walk straight in on the night. Door staff see names and status — nobody fumbles for a QR code in glare. A Luma integration is being explored for event check-ins; for pilots, we can plan guest-list workflows around Luma exports and imports while the direct integration is finalized.

Security · privacy · consent

Consent-based biometric authentication.

  • The smile is the consent gestureNobody is verified by walking past a camera. Authentication requires a deliberate smile, every time.
  • Honest about what we storeWe store facial images and biometric templates to support reliable verification and model updates, plus authentication logs. Details are in our Biometric Information Policy.
  • We don't sell biometric informationBiometric data is used for authentication, fraud prevention, and security — never for advertising, and never sold.
  • Probabilistic, and we say soBiometric authentication can fail or mismatch. We design for graceful fallbacks in pilot workflows rather than pretending it's perfect.
  • Safeguards where implementedWe use measures like encryption, access controls, and audit logging where implemented, and consent and deletion rights are built into our policies.

Integration roadmap

Plays well with what you run.

These are directions we're actively exploring with pilot partners — talk to us about what your stack needs.

Luma — exploring

A Luma integration is being explored for event check-ins. For pilots, we can plan guest-list workflows around Luma exports and imports while the direct integration is finalized.

CRM & webhooks — roadmap

Pushing check-in events into your CRM or systems via webhooks is on the integration roadmap. Available for pilot planning — tell us what you'd wire it to.

Payments — coming soon

Smiley Payments will let the same smile settle a payment. We're focused on check-ins and authentication first, and building payments carefully.

Questions

Asked often, answered straight.

Do I have to actually smile?

Yes — and that's by design. The smile is the deliberate consent and anti-spoofing gesture. Nobody gets verified by simply walking past a camera; authentication only happens when a person chooses to smile at the terminal.

What do you store about my employees or guests?

We store enrolled facial images and biometric templates to support reliable verification and model updates, plus authentication logs and verification records. We don't sell biometric information or use it for advertising. Our Biometric Information Policy covers collection, retention, and deletion in detail.

Can verification get it wrong?

Biometric authentication is probabilistic — failed or incorrect matches can happen. We design pilot workflows so an uncertain match can include fallback review by staff rather than silently passing or failing anyone.

Which hardware works?

Android-compatible devices for now — iPads are not currently supported. We can set up on your compatible hardware or provide our own. Ask us about your setup before assuming compatibility.

How long does it take?

Enrollment takes about 10 seconds, once. Verification takes about 2 seconds at the terminal. Good lighting and a stable connection help.

Can it take payments?

Not yet — Smiley Payments is coming soon. Today we're focused on employee check-ins, event check-ins, gym membership verification, and authentication.
